    Claudio Marchisio

:boh: He'd have spent more years out on loan/co-ownership but hard to confidently say more than that.

Thought it was 5 this season, but they have mucked about a little with the rules in the last couple of years.

    Claudio Marchisio

There can certainly be no doubt that he's an absolutely key player.

    Claudio Marchisio

Sure, but you still need a certain standard of passing from the deeper players in order to get the ball to the attackers well enough and often enough to give them a good chance to influence the game.

Yeah, Khedira can play there up to a point, but it's certainly not where he's best. Think it would be useful for Juve to pick up some solid Serie A player to be backup to Marchisio. Valdifiori would have been suitable.

    Claudio Marchisio

Nah. Don't think his passing is good enough. Also think he's better where he is given a freer role so he can use his athleticism, rather than being restricted in the way the deepest player usually is.

This is something I brought up a while ago. Juve don't have anyone else that I'd view as adequate in that position just now.

I was thinking about Krasic the other day. Was wondering if Salah is destined to be another Krasic. - - - Updated - - - I recall a Serie A season predictions article somewhere which said something to the effect of: Juve fans to continue telling everyone how good a player Claudio Marchisio...

    Claudio Marchisio

Given how frequently his role has changed (and how often those roles haven't really suited him) it's little wonder some view him as inconsistent.

    Claudio Marchisio

I would dispute that. I also don't think he gets out-muscled particularly often. Sure, he's not going to win as many duels as Pogba, but a lack of muscle is far from being a feature of Marchisio's game.

    Claudio Marchisio

Quite possibly. Players will generally make more errors when they aren't playing continually.

Congratulations on missing the point I was making.

    Claudio Marchisio

His error wasn't in getting out-muscled. The problem was that he tried to challenge Mertens at the wrong time and from the wrong angle, which left him vulnerable to being shrugged off. That sort of error in decision making is very rare from Marchisio.

    Claudio Marchisio

I'd have been more impressed if he'd taken a good first touch instead of getting into a situation where he had to do something good to recover.

    Claudio Marchisio

I find all the criticism when he plays perfectly solid games, as he did today, but doesn't score hilarious.

    Claudio Marchisio

Obviously Marchisio is going to offer more defensively than Pirlo in that role. What that game didn't really show, though, was how big the gap in passing ability is between Pirlo and Marchisio. Because Samp played an open game, it was easy for Juve to move the ball quickly and relatively...

Shouldn't you be counselling against forum bets? Pretty sure me not betting on them is the only reason Juve failed to get out of their group in the CL this year.
