I tend to agree. While you can certainly get very good at something by learning/practice alone, only people born with a natural predisposition towards something will ever become truly great at it, in the vast majority of cases.
Both are pretty awful, but Ramos at least sometimes shows glimpses of being a good defender. Pique hasn't in quite some time. What constitutes good form for him these days is "not making any costly mistakes".
Considering a lot of people acted like they never even heard of Pirlo until his panenka against England in 2012, that's no shocker. Most of those writers probably think a Barzagli is a type of pasta.
