I'm not sure what she has to gain from being so alarmist other than book sales. But shit, I'm a lot more wary now. I know I can't eliminate all the bad stuff from my diet, but I didn't expect to see vegetable oils in a bunch of places I never bothered to check before, like mustard or salted...

@GordoDeCentral @swag @Post Ironic I'm currently listening to this audiobook. My main take away so far is that the only good diet for humans involves strictly whole foods - nothing artificial, just natural like we historically ate until modern times. The two biggest enemies to human health...

I think it does a good job of explaining the mythology. But yeah, if you wanna understand it all you will need to read further. It doesn't seem to affect the story much imo

It doesn't seem that complex to me to need analysis. Faust, yes, but not this. Maybe there is some deeper meaning behind it, but it seems like a straightforward plot to me.

It's the first time I'm reading about Greek mythology and it's a good introduction. It's like 50% enjoyable, 50% a drag. Around 2/3 through and I just wanna be done with it, but I think it's worth finishing.

@Völler The Fifth Sun - recommended. But if you've read Conquistador there's probably a lot of the same information, though this one is more of a Mexica (Aztec) perspective.

Looks good! Yeah maybe you're right about not knowing how to read a poem, can't say I've really read any before. I did enjoy it in parts though. Then again the translation probably doesn't do it justice. What language did you read it in?

Ah okay, another German. Very modern too. Sounds a bit like The Master and Margarita, which was wonderful A history lesson on an interesting period

Translated by David Constantine. I haven't read many poems, and I imagine translating one from German to English takes away a lot. The one you mention is a novel so maybe it translates better. Looks interesting.
