[CL] Atlético de Madrid 2-0 JUVENTUS [February 20th, 2019]

I doubt this. We signed him to a huge 4 year contract, as part of our project, I doubt it would rely on winning CL this year. Or that we didn't take into account the possibility of a bad draw and poor result early in the knockouts. I expect a couple big signings, though I also expect a sale of...

I would have been fine with Dybala starting if we put some players behind him who could actually build play forward. Dybala's touch wasn't even bad today. But any time he got the ball, there wasn't another Juventus player in the same zip code and he ended up surrounded with no space. Even just...

I see him sticking around for another year for sure. The project and money involved is just too big. I'm pretty certain he wouldn't have joined if the management didn't make some assurances about the project. If we go out now, in this embarrassing fashion, I can see a big splash in the summer...

:agree: I remember before Cardiff, we had Buffon, Alves, Chiello and others talking about how Buffon deserved the Balon d'Or if we win, Bonucci talking about how other teams were afraid of us... so cringe... especially with Real Madrid, Zidane, Ronaldo all just going about their business...

Would hate this. A lot. An overweight, declining FB. He'd be an improvement on Sandro, but not at all what I want. I hope Spinazzola takes over the starting spot on that flank, he's got so much more energy and drive than current Sandro. Keep Sandro for rotation or sell him and buy a cheap...

Yeah. His first 3 years here, it rarely bit us, and we actually had good, or at least decent first leg results in the vast majority of our ties... Last year and this year though, his first leg tactics have been so passive and reactionary, and left us really chasing results in the return leg.

:agree: I'm waiting for the return leg to see what happens there, but if we go out in Rof16 to a decent, but by no means top class, Atletico. It's the end of the road. Time for some fresh blood. Break the bank on midfield, and a young defender like De Ligt, and bring in some new ideas for the...

Of course we can win the competition, but we need to find a way to bypass our shit midfield. Allegri got his tactics wildly off the mark tonight, and with MdS and a shit-form Sandro, we had no ability to move the ball forward to our attack. With Bentancur and Matuidi in midfield, we needed...

:agree: I hate that style. Unless you are Ramos, eventually you aren't going to receive the call, and when that happens you concede tap-ins.

Seeing us take corners and when it was headed out, three times I believe we passed it all the way back to our keeper immediately, instead of pushing it back wide to cross into the box with all our players there was ridiculous.

Juve style will be going up 3-0 in the return leg, and then conceding an injury time goal to be knocked out on away goals rule. Can totally see this happening. :seven:

This was exactly my point. Who gives two fucks about whether we play home or away first. A bad result at home in the first leg like last year against Madrid almost guarantees being knocked out. A good result in the the away leg first almost guarantees progress. Take care of our shit and home or...

How is this relevant? We've only been knocked out twice in CL knockouts under Allegri. Against Bayern and Madrid. Both we played at home first too. So I guess I could say we are undefeated when we play the away leg first, even though it's only happened twice in 4 years (Porto and Monaco in...
