Let's look at a couple of things here. If Rabiot, Bentancur, and Arthur are the starters, is it a grand stretch of the imagination to say that Tonali would be the 4th best midfielder on the team? And if that is indeed true, as the 4th MF, wouldn't he get an awful lot of playing time...

Big difference though in buying players for the youth academy and not progressing, and buying ready made young players from other clubs. Tonali certainly does not fall into the first category, and I don't think this would have any influence on his decision

Because not every Italian has grown up as a Juve fan. That's the major difference with this sport, compared to every other one that has a draft system. These young players have a choice.

Given the economic construct of both of those deals, I don't think it would have been an either/or. However, just as it was rumored that Tonali preferred Inter, Kulusevski came right out and said he preferred us. So, the wishes of both players probably played into both.

Marotta wasn't the one who searched for the talent. That was and still is Fabio's job. It's the economic aspect and the structuring of the deals that is Marotta's strong suit.

The way THAT deal is structured, if true, it doesn't matter if Rabiot made that kind of improvement. That is a deal that you try to jump on, regardless of who we already have.

With all due respect to the aforementioned up and coming Italian players. I would MUCH rather be the preferred destination for upcoming French and Portuguese players. But that's just me. I mean, obviously we are not, but if I had to choose.
