If the country does indeed end up divided, I doubt it would be by an invasion but rather by a poll or something. The Eastern Ukrain is no South Osetia or Abkhazia, it's much more valuable than that and the rest of the Ukraine would be pretty much disabled after such a scenario.

See the thing is, this will end up being another civil conflict where another political faction (regardless of who that is) profits from, only for the average citizen to pay the price in blood and devastation. This is a politics in its brightest image.
