I wasn't discussing what to do before a penalty either. I merely stated the three major schools of pk stopping techniques, their benefits and disadvantages. I figured it might help the discussion. Unpredictability doesn't really matter when you consider the amount of penalties a goalkeeper...

I understand what game theory is. I've written a paper on it. I just ignored it because it doesn't have any bearing in penalty stopping.

I'm just saying it's difficult to argue the value's of a penalty stopping technique when you've never stopped one. Based purely on theory a pk should never be missed. Especially when you take into account a person's average reach, sideways jump, and speed of reaction.

It's a penalty, you could run from post to post bare ass and if it's taken properly it won't matter.

What do you mean by chasing the ball? If you mean going in the same direction every shot, that can be successful, but you only want to do it for about 3 shots because they tend to catch on by then.

1st rule of PKs, the keeper should never be able to block them. A perfect penalty strike is unstoppable. A pk is a situation in which the Keeper is at disadvantage at all times. Therefore he must do everything in his power to reduce the disadvantage. There are three schools of penalty...

Actually no it's not. Not if you do it right and you're good at it. It can be more effective that just guessing a random direction and going all out. It's all in your "step" off the line.

It's just a friendly partner settle down. There's no reason to be upset because Villa played a solid tactic and Ciro decided to give the forwards a fitness test. That's what friendlies are for. My boys got waxed by Espanol today and you don't see me all in tizzy. :D

I wouldn't blame the ball, I'd blame the two knuckle heads up top. Don't worry it is just a friendly, the boys were probably more concerned with the after-events than the actual match.:D

I've seen him hit several so that they are unstoppable. He doesn't usually fuck around, today he did. I don't think he will again.
