TBH, Iling seems like the type of player Giuntoli likes. Napoli has always had good wingers under him. If anything he'll get extended again.

There's no reason to run Kostic into the ground when hes got a backup like this. I dont even dislike Kostic, but Iling is more dynamic and brings more unpredictability in the attacking phase.

Allegri would rather run Kostic, or any other experienced player, into the ground than rotate a young player like Iling in consistently. He's fooball's answer to Tom Thibodeau.

That last part is pretty interesting, especially when you consider how Allegri uses Fagioli. If you look at his heat maps, he spends a lot of time out wide. No reason Iling couldn't operate as a mezzala, but on the left. Gotta figure out a way to get him on the field more, and Kostic is too...

If Kostic wasn’t so durable and necessary, Iling would probably be getting more minutes. That’s great depth though, I wish every position had similar cheap talent like that backing up

His defensive contributions shouldn’t be as surprising since I believe he started out as a left back, but it’s still nice to see and makes him a legit backup for Kostic.

Ironic, I'd probably rate him higher than both now lol, especially Soule.

I wonder why he wasn't more highly rated to begin with. I only really watched him this year, but it seems the production was always there. He had 20 G+A for the primavera last season. Obviously stats aren't everything so I'm just curious as to what the book on him was.
