    Yeah you're right, forgot Nedved didn't actually start playing on the left before Capello. Still,i'm quite sure there were games where we played 4-4-2 with Zambrotta on the right/left, especially when Nedved was missing. I see no reason why we should get Gourcuff when we already have Diego...

    Actually Lippi did use 4-4-2 after Zidane left. Still there's no reason to use a formation just because it has worked for a club in the past. Just keep Diego and get Ribery, fullbacks and a centre back. If there's still money left then get another striker. DP should be good for one more season...

They knew we have no width and we are vulnerable to counter-attacks so they just crowded the mid of their own half and relied to score on counters.
