OK, but that was not an easy group, considering it was played in Europe. Poland should have went through with Germany, but Ecuador was a damn good team. How has Uruguay faired in their last World Cups? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_FIFA_World_Cup_-_Group_A Ouch. But hey, they have...

Who cares about history. If that's all that matters then just give a free pass to anyone who has won the cup before. Actually, this is another thing that pisses me off about Euro fans.

You do realize though that Costa Rica had the best records against Mexico and the US out of our Federation, right? They do well against the big teams and under pressure. And dare I say it, Uruguay is the more boring of the two.

Just out of curiosity, why do so many folks want Uruguay in there? Just because they have history, or because they have better players, or because folks hate CONCACAF? Much rather see an underdog like CR go. And if it was Mexico vs. Bolivia, I wouldn't root for the CONCACAF team, that's for...

What if Ferrara said this after a Juve match? The FIGC could, and would, punish him. But lets have a free for all. Hopefully next time Maradona will say he'll rape some journalist's mother, wife and children. It's not like the guy couldn't get more classless off a football pitch anyway.

It's easy to say that only Diego would be punished for such statements when he's probably one of the only few that would make them in the first place. It's like saying, "yeah, so and so serial killer would only get charged for murdering and eating 15 people, but if it was Marcelo Lippi, his...

So you think he shouldn't be punished? I guess there isn't any point in holding up a standard of decency in sport when Maradona is the vocal figure.

Lewd and lascivious conduct comes to mind. Does FIFA have a law about homicide or drunk driving? I don't think they do, but that doesn't mean Maradona can head out one night and start killing people in a drunken rampage and expect to be Argentina's coach next match.

On the basis that he's Maradona. Before they were talking about banning him for the WC matches, but of course, they couldn't do that to their precious Diego. It's obvious that his name would get him a lighter sentence. That's just the way the world works.

If that was a normal coach, they would have banned him for full internationals, ie the World Cup.

I was young, but I somewhat remember people being pissed at him getting himself banned. And I think he may dislike us because the team doctor bought a US-version of some drug that was illegal and hence did the trick of getting him sent home. :D
