Sorry this issue just passed on my mind. According to the new Italian League rules, any club that want to sign new Non-Eu players, must make sure they release an existing one first. Is this still valid?

If it does, maybe it is hard to sign players such as Trebelsi next season. Wonder if he is EU or non?

This is actually might as well linked to a very interesting issue to new threads by -Z-. If we sell Nedved, we have to take another Non-Eu or we shall forfeit the place for Non-Eu players inside the team.

Such case like Modena, they are not able to sign any new EU players at all, since they didn't have any.

His place will expire anyway, since the Czechs are joining the EU in May. :)

Not really if Moggi again playing a trick here. Nedved still EU, if he really push for an exchange, Moggi can still take another Non-Eu, players in current situation. But not too sure, transfer window is closed anyway.

this rule takes the piss, ridiculous rule if i have ever heard of one....

Teams like roma can keep having X amount of non-eu, but others mus be forced to have only X-1....at a permanent disadvantage...

This rule is a bag of crap, i can see what they are trying to do, but its jus crazy mofo rule.

It will be removed after a year oor two anyway. Wasnt there a Nigerina player who went to court claming a similar rule was unconstitutional and thats when they removed it. IIRC before the allowed number of EU players was 5 in the 18 man match squad.

The rule was challenged because a player was suddenly forced out of his club when they were newly promoted. There is no such challenge to the current rule, but it's a bizarre rule, designed to cause as little controversy when it was implimented as possible. That worked, but it's a heap of crap as a rule in general - totally unfair.

As somebody pointed out, Trabelsi should have a Dutch passport by now, and if he doesn't he should be able to acquire one. Meanwhile, three of our non-EU players (Salas, Zalayeta and Olivera) are out on loan, and I expect at least two of them to either make their loan moves permanent or be sold, so that opens up more non-EU slots, as does the fact that the Czech Republic are joining the EU soon (Neddy will no longer be listed as a non-EU player).

That rule's a load of crap, cos it means that clubs that currently have no non-EU players will never be able to get any...right!? Or am i a bit confused seeing i just woke up?

well, if trabelsi can get a eu passport, he is the only one who really needs it. Rosicky will be EU in may, others such as van der vaart, puyol, stam, mexes, ferrari, bonera are all ok. Saviola is rumoured to be almost getting one by the end of the season.

so everyone we are looking at or being rumoured to the past few weeks are all okay.

Cavenaghi would be nice. hopefully Salas is sold, as is zalayeta...Olivera can stay on loan for a while as well.

    Sorry, but I don't understand.
What do you mean by if we don't fill our EU space up we'll lose it? Does it mean that, say, we have 3 non EU players, we have to get rid one of them to get another non EU player? Didn't UEFA set a certain number of non EU players for a team?

No, the Italian FA controls that for Italian competitions, and they set it so that you can't increase the number of non-EU players in your team.
