I like him, good for 2-4 years, but not at an excessive price. Also it requires a tactical shift with Pjanic.

I doubt he'll be starting 11 material in 3-4 yeas. He has 2 years at high level, as he'll be 31 any day now.

He's not a super athletic player in terms of his speed and stamina so I don't see a huge decline because of age.

    Dembele pjanic Can

Should be able to control the midfield much better than Matuidi pjanic Khedira, I reckon.
Still a bit static though maybe.

It's very static, even if you put Can instead. But it puts emphasis on the wingers and fullbacks.

Isn't he too slow to play b2b?

Good but don't really seem to fit into our system.

Impossible to take the ball off this guy or win a 50-50.

Was better than all our mids combined. Made Pjanic look like...Pjanic.

Pjanic-Dembele-Can/Matuidi if he isn't as good in the advanced CM/B2B role.

    - - - Updated - - -

Most likely, Max would start with Can-Pjanic-Dembele.

Dembele is left footed, so as a B2B, he has to be on the left.

Would just take over from Matuidi, and Can will take over from Khedira and play the same role.

Very solid but lacking an ideal mezzala/attacking CM. Passing and technique wise big improvement though, just lacking a Pogba/SMS/Iniesta type CM in final third.

When ever I seen Tottenham play, they had Dyer as the DM, Dembele next to him, but with more freedom to carry the ball forward and Eriksen and an advanced LCM/ AM role.
That tactical setup could work really well here with Can/ Bentancur the DM, Dembele as LCM/DM and Pjanic in his old Roma role as a RCM/AM.
