He has almost never played as the No 9 in a 4-3-3 for us. Doesn't mean he can't. He did in Argentina years ago and looked very good. He clearly struggles creating chances for us as a CAM, and is much more of a goalscorer and finisher than an assister (generally looks to shoot first anytime he is near the box). So I'd like to see him get some games as a 9, rotate with Higgy, see what he can do. But it's not like he has experience in the position while at Juve.
Mandžukič is a different kind of 9 to Higuain though and yesterday he played a very similar role to the one he had when playing in a front 2 together with Dybala. if the LW in our 433 is a striker like Mario or Martial, they can be the attacking outlet receiving the long passes and I don't see why Dybala couldn't be the focal point finishing off the attack, he already was in 15/16 when Mario had more of a supportive role and Dybala's grown since then

He's banging in a lot more goals than he used to.

I said that? It’s the most awesome league. And again. I’m not saying Dybala isn’t good

Well he scored less in Serie A when he first came to us, now he's scoring more and attempts things he wouldn't then. To me that shows that he's progressed, I'm not sure why you disagree.

Some of the arguments I can understand though and his price tag is what makes it difficult but it is obvious that we perform better when one of him or Dybala is playing. They are very incompatible.

He has a unique vantage point as having played for Madrid.

I wonder if he has said anything about how dubious a lot of the calls they get in their favor are? I mean, he has witnessed referring for them and against them as having played with and against them.

It's so strange, if they were able to click together they would be unstoppable. One of the only gripes I have with Max is getting them in sync with one another.

Higuain (Juventus): "Even when I was at Madrid, referees would come in go from the dressing room. I've played more than 500 games as a footballer, and never have I felt more cheated than yesterday against my old team. It's not a conspiracy when it keeps repeating." [MARCA]

He offered nothing going forward against RM in both matches, first match ok he played with Dybala so he had to do a lot of hold up and in my opinion played well, second match he was the only striker and had lots of support and I only ever really noticed him when he came back to defend

Really from a CF I expect more from him and I don't see a top player there if am honest, Perhaps converting Dybala to a centre forward in a 4-3-3 is our best chance at winning the CL going forward, I don't see why he can not do it as he has all the attributes he needs to play the role especially with the good quality wingers that we have

And yet the team almost managed to qualify without him offering much in the way of contribution. I'm not his biggest fan, but let's not $#@! on the man when there's no need to.

If it weren't for his contribution, we wouldn't have been playing vs Real in the first place.

There's a difference between objective criticism, $#@!ting on a player, and blind hatred.

My dislike for The Accidental Footballer for example is closer to the latter rather than the former.

    +1

Fair though IMO for his critics to suggest Higgy hasn't earned the 90 mil fee. Still hope he stays next season. Would like to see him come in AS FIT AS POSSIBLE and see how it plays out. Don't want him using the early serie matches to get into shape.

I cant recall a player frustrating me more than Higuain has. Maybe Moratta, that little diving $#@!. But mark my words, Higuain is the reason we look bad
