    1 for goalkeeper
    2 for right full back
    3 for left full back

    4 for a central midfielder

    5 for central defender

6 for left sided central defender

    7 outside right

    8 for right sided mf

    9 centre forward

    10 left attacking fwd

    11 left winger

now there have been some alterations

7 for teams like Man united now is for most popular player from Robson to Cantona and now Beckham

Liverpool the same from keegan to dalglish to beardsley

10 for latin and south americans is for the symbol of the team

14 made famous by cruyff but latterly won by weah

77 date of birth of the player

I like 4 very much especially when Juve score 4 goals other than that I don't have any 'classic' numbers.
Speaking of footie I watched this game where a defender was wearing a No. 1 jersey & it was dead weird.

Does anyone know why Cruyff liked the #14? why Lupatelli will be wearing #10 is beyond my comprehension
Who says he liked #14?? It was simply his number in the team!

I can't understand the fuss about numbers....
