I can hardly wait...

- - - Updated - - -

First Division clubs may break away from the Scottish Football League to join a new structure with the 12 Scottish Premier League teams.

SPL proposals for a merger with the SFL, a revised financial distribution model and more end-of-season play-offs appear unlikely to gain approval.

Aberdeen agree pre-contract with Willo Flood:

http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20130531/willo-flood-agrees-to-join-the-dons_2212158_3196745

No mention of how long a contract he's agreed to yet.

Solid move.

Like the idea of him and Jack providing a solid base in midfield.

Need to sign the guy who'll break forward to support the attackers now. Hope it's not Robson.

??????

Shaughnessy-Anderson-Considine-Robertson

Flood--Jack

Hayes-------????????----------

--------------Vernon--------McGinn

Shaping up to not be too shabby.

Would probably look to sign a fullback as well, rather than going into the season with kids starting on both side as a first choice.

Barry Robson signs:

http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20130603/barry-robson-agrees-to-join-the-dons_2212158_3199045

Was a very good player, but haven't seen him in a while. Seems to have been doing okay down south.

Would have preferred a more physical, box-to-box player (Davidson), but I don't view Robson as a bad signing.

Probably pushes the team more towards 4-3-3 and, with more ball-playing and less power in midfield, I think I'd probably move Magennis ahead of Vernon in the centre-forward pecking order:

???????

Shaughnessy-Anderson-Considine-Robertson

Flood--Jack--Robson

Hayes----Magennis---McGinn

Keeper and a left-back (Grainger, perhaps) and things would be shaping up not too badly.

Motherwell and Aberdeen are vying to sign former Rangers winger Gregg Wylde, BBC Scotland has learned.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22778697

We've offered more money, apparently, but Motherwell can offer European football. Being a Weegie, he may also prefer Motherwell to be closer to family and friends.

Anyway, not sure how I'd feel about this move.

Good player - pacy, direct winger with a good cross - but I don't view signing a left-winger as anything resembling a priority.

Think I'd only consider it if Aberdeen were to sign him instead of going for a new striker, with McGinn being played through the middle more often.

Lomas has really had two good seasons, he got us in Europe last season two after coming in for McInnes.

He seems to be well liked after his role at West Ham.

Think the assistant Wright is the favourite, although I am sure Hartley and Sheerin will be linked

Getting ever closer to doing the right thing:

Scottish Football League clubs have voted in favour of a proposed merger with the Scottish Premier League .

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22864944

Key points:

- a single merged league of 42 clubs

- a 12-10-10-10 divisional structure

- an all-through distribution model involving substantial redistribution to the second tier

- a 'pyramid' for the entire game

- play-offs involving team 11 in the top division and teams 2, 3 and 4 in the division below
