Marco Baroni is confident the Primavera are ready to put last Tuesday’s Viareggio Cup exit behind them by launching a convincing assault on the three remaining competitions up for grabs.
The coach granted his players an extended break after their hopes of defending last season’s Viareggio crown went up in smoke following a defeat to Juve Stabia in the knockout stages.
And with the championship, Coppa Italia and Next Generation Series still to fight for, Baroni believes the team’s elimination could serve as an important lesson for the remainder of the campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Juventus Channel, the 49-year-old said: “We’ve got a series of difficult and important games ahead of us and we’re looking to prepare for them in the best possible way.
“The Viareggio Cup is already in the past, unfortunately we weren’t able to defend our title in spite of the excellent start against Maribor.
“In the three games that followed - against Avellino, A.P.I.A. and Juve Stabia - we came up against teams who got men behind the ball and didn’t allow us to fully express ourselves.
“I hope this setback will also help bring us back down to earth, after several months of important results which could have led us to think we had become invincible.”
The young Bianconeri’s challenging run of five fixtures in the space of two weeks gets underway when Genoa travel to Chisola on Saturday 2 March.
Five days later, on Thursday 7 March, Baroni’s side will aim to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Next Generation Series with a win over Norwegian outfit Rosenborg.
Inter-city rivals and title contenders Torino are next up in the championship on Sunday 10 March, followed three days later by the Coppa Italia final first leg against Napoli at Juventus Stadium.
The heavy schedule draws to a close with a tough away trip to Empoli on Saturday 16 March.
