Juventus hold an undefeated home championship record against Siena from the seven encounters contested to date.
After 55 years spent competing outside of Italy’s top flight, the Tuscan club first met the Bianconeri in the 2000/01 campaign and have subsequently slipped to five defeats and drawn twice on their visits to Turin.
The most frequent scoreline, witnessed on two occasions, is a 2-0 success in favour of the hosts.
Goals from Fabio Cannavaro and David Trezeguet sealed a straightforward victory in 2004/05, while Hasan Salihamidzic added to another Trezeguet strike in 2007/08 to guarantee a triumph by the same margin.
One player Sunday’s opponents will be happy to see the back of is talismanic Bianconeri skipper Alessandro Del Piero.
The club legend often reserved his best form for the visit of Siena, netting eight goals, many of which spectacular, in a prolific six-year period.
In January 2004, Del Piero struck twice from the spot before capitalising on hesitation in the visitors’ rearguard to seal a hat-trick in a 4-2 win played out in snowy conditions at the Delle Alpi.
The following year saw the captain open the scoring with a magnificent back heel before rounding off a 3-0 success with a coolly converted penalty.
In 2009, Del Piero’s superb 35-yard free-kick separated the sides in a closely-fought encounter at the Stadio Olimpico.
His hot streak of form against Siena culminated with a double in the 3-3 draw under the stewardship of Alberto Zaccheroni, when Juventus let a three-goal lead slip from their grasp as the visitors came back to earn a share of the spoils.
Last February brought Siena’s first ever trip to Juventus Stadium, with both sides claiming a point following a goalless draw.
