The Primavera will face Juve Stabia in the next round of the Viareggio Cup following today’s last 16 draw.
Baroni’s side will be aiming to seal a quarter-final place when they take on their opponents on Tuesday 19 February at 3pm. The game will be played on the artificial surface on offer at the Mannucci di Pontedera Stadium.
Juve Stabia were forced to rely on a strong attacking record to secure a spot in the last 16 after finishing second in their group, behind Lazio. The Primavera’s opponents found the back of the net on ten occasions in the group stage, registering wins over Mutual Uruguayana A-Net (3-0) and Stella Rossa (4-0), which arrived either side of a narrow 4-3 defeat against the Biancocelesti.
Meanwhile, Baroni’s young guns topped Group A courtesy of wins over Maribor and Avellino, before being held to a goalless stalemate in their final fixture against A.P.I.A. Leichhardt.
One finalist will emerge from each group listed below. With Inter, Milan, Roma and Torino all present in the group, it is likely that Juve will have to overcome tough opposition en route to the final.
GROUP 1
Torino v Roma
Inter v Spezia
Juventus v Juve Stabia
All Boys v Milan
GROUP 2
Napoli v Genoa
Lazio v Anderlecht
Siena v Virtus Entella
Fiorentina v Parma
