Dundee plan to announce the signing of Italian striker Fabrizio Ravanelli on Monday.
The veteran frontman held talks with Dundee director Giovanni di Stefano on Wednesday.
After "extremely positive" discussions, Di Stefano has instructed the club to organise a news conference for 22 September to announce Ravanelli's arrival.
A Dundee spokesman said: "We will carry out his instructions within the course of the next 24 to 48 hours."
The former Juventus player is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Dens Park club.
Dundee on Friday signed Ravanelli's former team-mate, Craig Burley, the pair having been released by cash-strapped Derby County at the end of the season.
Now they are prepared to make Ravanelli the highest-paid player in their history.
