Sampdoria boss Delio Rossi is hoping his new charges can give the Bianconeri plenty to think about when both sides square up at Juventus Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The 52-year-old coach, who replaced Ciro Ferrarashortly before Christmas, has urged the Blucerchiati to produce a strong performance as they bid to haul themselves clear of the drop zone.
Addressing the media from the club’s training base in Genova, Rossi said: “We’ll keep Juventus under consideration, they’ve got players who can make the difference, but I also hope they’ll have a few concerns about us.”
He continued: “We’ll be facing Juventus and then Milan, two teams who are stronger than us on paper. The way of bridging the gap is through organisation, physique and play. It will take a period of work and familiarisation to find the right system. I’m curious to see how much progress we’re making on Sunday.”
When asked about the threat of Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo, Rossi added: “He’s a particular type of player, man marking him might not be the best solution - he knows how to pick the right position.
“Is there added motivation because we’re facing the league leaders? If a Serie A footballer isn’t motivated, regardless of the opposition, then he needs to change profession.”
