Full name Julian Draxler
Date of birth 20 September 1993 (age 19)
Place of birth Gladbeck, Germany
Height 1.87 m (6 ft 2 in)
Playing position Midfielder

Career

Schalke 04
Draxler made his Bundesliga debut on 15 January 2011 in a 0–1 loss to Hamburger SV. At that time, he was the fourth youngest Bundesliga player ever. One week later, in Schalke's 1–0 win against Hannover 96, he became the second youngest field player after Nuri Şahin to ever start a Bundesliga game.
On 25 January 2011, Julian Draxler came on as a substitute for Peer Kluge in the quarter finals of the DFB-Pokal against 1. FC Nuremberg in the second half of extra time. He scored his first goal for Schalke 04 in the dying seconds of the game to win the match 3–2 for his club. He scored his first goal in the Bundesliga on 1 April 2011 against St. Pauli.
Draxler opened the scoring in Schalke's 2011 DFB-Pokal Final victory over MSV Duisburg, volleying in from outside the area, scoring the first of what proved to be five unanswered goals for Schalke.

International career

On 9 August 2011, Draxler scored on his debut for the Germany U-21 side in the 4–1 win over Cyprus U-21 in a 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship qualifier.
On 7 May 2012, he was called up into the provisional squad for the UEFA Euro 2012 senior side for Germany. He is one of two uncapped players in the provisional squad. On 26 May 2012, Draxler made his debut for the senior side, playing in Germany's 5–3 loss to Switzerland, coming on as a substitute, replacing Lukas Podolski in the 62nd minute. He saw an effort straying just off the target through a deflection, denying him an international debut goal.

Linked to Juventus

Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Schalke's Julian Draxler in January, according to reports in the Italian Press.
The 19-year-old playmaker has been a near ever-present in Die Knappen's team this season, playing six of the first eight League games, and helping Huub Stevens' men to third place in the Bundesliga.
The Bianconeri are said to be keeping tabs on the midfielder, but could come into competition with Bayern Munich, Calcio Mercatio are reporting.
Schalke are likely to ask for a fee of around €12m for the teenager.

    Doubtful they would.

Attacking midfielder, and quality young talents should allways be welcomed. Though the german ones are unlikely to leave Bundesliga these days.
Yeah, and in general most german "attacking midfielders" would be considered "winger" or "supportstriker" in italy

Um he has played left (fake) winger in ze few times I seen him this season. As you see in the above clip, drifts in centrally alot, quite excellent dribbler, and as already said, very useful shot.

    there it is.

in modern football when i read "midfielder with explosive speed and dribbeling" i automatically think about wingers since in the center at the highest level, there is few room for that.

considering his age, it makes perfect sense to try those attributes on the flank

and wasent podolski a wide AM in the 4-2-3-1 germany plays ?

We need a striker, we already have a couple young midfielders that are having a hard time getting playing time. We don't need another one.

Understandable on first part, but second part, our squad basically has no "attacking" midfielders, its just Pepe who can be remotely classified as such.

How many offensive wide midfielders do we currently have ?

Why are alot of people here rooting for nani and a return of the 4-3-3 ?

this guy has potential to be more then nani, and less of a douchebag asshole

The only way I'd want this kid to come is if we change formation.

    Buffon
    (Storari)
    Lichtsteiner - Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini
Caceres - Lucio - Marrone - De Ceglie
    Vidal - Pirlo - Marchisio
    Isla/Giacch - Pogba - Asamoah
    Draxler
    Pepe/Giacch
    Giovinco - Vucinic
    Bendtner/Matri - Quagliarella

If we could get a top striker (Lewandowski, Llorente, Dzeko, etc) I'd be fine with getting a young talent like this kid. But we really need to prioritize.
