Even though it may not have been the most prolific season of his career, Alessandro Matri, the team’s top scorer with ten strikes, has made giant strides in improving his overall game under Antonio Conte’s guidance.
The striker’s role has changed somewhat since arriving from Cagliari in January 2011. Previously a predator who lurked in and around the six-yard box, the 2011/12 campaign has seen Matri operate as a target man, holding the ball up and unselfishly bringing his team-mates into play.
Along with his ten goals, Matri has contributed five assists and had 30 shots on target over the course of 31 appearances and 2,009 minutes played.

It is clear that Matri's qualities are wasted on the target man role and that Conte wants that role into his system.
Now matter who we bring, i hope Matri stays as a squad player, he is young enough to adapt as a target man or SS and accept the bench without hussle.
