I hate to be cynical about a kid who lived a tragic life and died well too soon, but videos like this I find emotionally manipulative and cloying. Not inspiring.

It's like a hard-sell marketing commercial without the punch line on a price and where to buy it.

thats fine but i dont see cynicism is his motives or manipulation. alot of people have gotten strength from him and they are stronger with different or shared condition

It's not in the message, it's in the packaging. The emotional mechanisms used in his videos are identically used by people to sell you cars.

well what people do to sell stuff is on them. This boys story and life is inspiring in its short yet tragic end. He had joy and happiness, peace and blessings. his videos by him were meant to show that to those in the same dire straights

Why would his favourite rapper, who is alive, be in a near death experience?

Because it's a subconscious dream, not a trip to the netherworld or heaven.

And yet his videos were produced as if he was selling me something. And he certainly was selling me something. Just not for money.

To comment on this. Many times God or Angels take familiar forms. He could have seen that form to set him at ease in that moment.

I think my version of events is more likely though, don't you? What he described was basically nonsensical, like many dreams we all have had. I've woken up from dreams feeling fantastic and wanting to go back, many times, especially when I was a youth. I've met people I looked up to. Our conscience takes us to these happy places. What I find most interesting is why this happened when the kid is facing death. Is it a natural response, do we all experience it? If you were to die instantly I'd say not. I can see how overpowering it would be and how you might feel the need to be explain it in a paranormal way.

I don't want to look like I am trampling on this kid because of course it's extremely sad for him and his family that he's dead and all, but I find it also quite sad in a way how people become more religious when faced with death. It's impossible to speak concisely about the afterlife and near death experiences because of their very nature, but we do know a fair bit about dream states and various levels of consciousness. Certain chemical releases in my brain can make me believe I am riding a pink dinosaur or take me to utopia, and they can feel as real as any sober or waking state.

Im not going to watch the video - im not into guilt tourism or sympathy porn, which is all that is.

Things like doesn't inspire me, how is it going to inspire me? "one day i can get terminally ill and become famous for making millions of people cry and want to be like me" - The strength and determination that you have to face when dealing with a terminal illness is unfathomable until you have to face it one day, but people face it all the time and they don't make videos making everyone who are trying to enjoy the few years they have before they face it.

Also this isn't suffering, if you want to see suffering read up on the Khmer Rouge and the on going effects that its having on Cambodia or the aids orphans in botswana (who only exist because of fucking catholic bullshit) and then you'll begin to understand what suffering is about.

    Reminds me of this video
