Motta cannot be considered as a flop because there were absolutely no expectations on him. Benitez turned a monster team into a poor, lost side with no character and was on the way to literally destroy everything Mourinho did. If that is not considered the flop of the century then I don't know what is.

I had minimal, if not outright zero, expectations for Adriano. He's a drunken head case. I cannot consider Adriano a "flop," because it is no longer 2007.

Motta, on the other hand, had every reason to not be one of the worst fullbacks in Serie A this season.
