21st September 1988: the last match of gladiator Bonini
Twenty-two years ago, on the 21st September 1988, Juventus bid farewell to one of the protagonists of the 1980s. In a Coppa Italia match against Como, which was played at the Comunale and ended in a 0-0 tie, Massimo Boni wore the Juventus jersey for the last time.
Besides being the one and only Juventus player from San Marino, Bonini managed to leave a great mark. He played for 8 seasons (the first was 1981/82) and made 296 appearances scoring 6 goals. He saw a role model in Beppe Furino and for years ran for kilometres contributing to the successes of the period: 3 Scudetti, 1 Coppa Italia, 1 Champions Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 1 Cup Winners Cup and a Mudialito for Clubs.
