Team of trainers made official

With a few days to go before the official start of the 2009/10 season, the technical staff driven by Ciro Ferrara has a new face. Together with deputy coach Massimiliano Maddaloni, technical assistant Dodo Sormani and goalkeeper trainer Michelangelo Rampulla there is now a team of trainers made up of three professionals who are already well known amongst the bianconeri: Massimo Neri, Claudio Gaudino and Andrea Scanavino.

While for Scanavino it is a confirmation considering his uninterrupted work with Juventus since 1999, for Neri and Gaudino it is a happy return seeing that they worked for the bianconeri in the past. More recent and more shorter is that of Neri who worked with Capello between 2004 and 2006. Gaudino’s experience in black and white is longer (from 1981 to 1999) having worked in the first team with Trapattoni (twice), Marchesi, Zoff and Lippi and in the youth sector.

Massimo Neri will be the coordinator of this new team. Claudio Gaudino will be concentrating mostly on the recovery of injured players. Andrea Scanavino will be supporting both activities and will take care of the team during the international breaks. Having returned to Juventus, Neri and Gaudino will not be leaving their posts with the national teams of England (with Fabio Capello) and Italy (with Marcello Lippi) with which he won the world cup in 2006.

**********

Let's hope there won't be a lot of new posts in here next season.

I think it was just precautionary and didn't want to risk it. Just some small muscle problem.

I think that Massimo Neri will hopefully prevent at least as much injuries as there were in the last two season that Ranierie used to dazzle us with

Medical report De Ceglie, Diego and Sissoko

On the eve of the match against Vicenza, the last of the trilogy of the summer camp, the medical staff released its usual medical report. News about De Ceglie, Diego and Sissoko.

The winger from Valle D’Aosta is continuing to recover from the injury to his left ankle. The programme will continue even during the next tour in Andalucia but he will not take part in any of the matches of the Peace Cup, returning to the field for one of the first matches in August.

The Brazilian is continuing with his fitness recovery programme with work in the gym and on the field. In the next few days the possibility of taking part in the next friendlies will be evaluated.

The Mali player, during a training session on the field in the last few days, felt the pain to the 5th metatarsus of the left foot again which he had fractured and had to have pins inserted. For this reason, he underwent an x-ray test which showed scratches to the bones as well as the complete consolidation of the fracture. Yesterday he was visited by professor Cerulli in Verona with the latter confirming the diagnosis of periostithis for which he will undergo medical treatment and physiotherapy. Since it is nothing serious, he is expected to return on the field in the next few days.

Periostitis is not that hard to treat but it should not be there in the first place.
Not in a such high profile athlete who is under anti-inflammatory treatment for a fracture. If the pins caused the infection, then our doctors are to blame!

    Thanks Andy!

Nice to know that Momo and Diego will be well again soon, but why is Paolo's injury not healing???? About ten days before he did, I twisted my ankle and the muscles in my calf. I did not go to the doctors or get any special treatment for it and I've been fine for a while. He got injured 23/6/09 and despite his regular check ups and treatment, the prognosis is that he will not play in the Peace Cup and will not be ready/fit to play until August!

Is someone on the Med team sabotaging his chances in favour of Moli???? What's going on??? :andy2:

Any ideas as to the reason why, Chris???

We aren't getting that many inuries this pre-season.

It will take time for the new medical and fitness staff to completely change what was wrong last season.
