Israel bombarded 30 Palestinian sites during 5 minutes before two hours.

Until now, 140 people were killed, and hundreds are injured.

I don't ask anybody to do anything in this useless world but I just want people to remember this day when the reaction happens.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – Israeli warplanes demolished dozens of Hamas security compounds across Gaza on Saturday in unprecedented waves of simultaneous attacks, and Hamas and medics reported dozens of people were killed.

The strikes caused widespread panic and confusion as black smoke rose above Gaza. Health Ministry official Moawiya Hassanain said at least 120 people were killed and more than 250 wounded. Officials said others were still buried under the rubble.

In one of the Hamas compounds, the bodies of more than a dozen uniformed security officers were seen lying on the ground. One survivor raised his index finger in a show of Muslim faith, uttering a prayer. Among the dead was the Gaza police chief, Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Jaber, witnesses said.

Hamas leaders threatened revenge attacks, Israel told its civilians near Gaza to take cover and moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for restraint. Egypt opened its border with Gaza to allow ambulances to drive out some of the wounded.

Hamas officials said all of Gaza's security compounds were destroyed. Israel Army Radio said at least 40 targets were hit.

Israel's military confirmed it carried out a series of air strikes on Hamas installations but did not provide details. Israel has warned in recent days it would strike back hard against continued rocket fire from Gaza on Israeli border towns.

"We'll do what we have to do," army spokesman Avi Benayahu said.

Israeli military sources said Israeli soldiers doing regular service had been called to return to their units.

Hamas said it would seek revenge, including launching new rocket attacks on Israel and sending suicide bombers to Israel. "Hamas will continue the resistance until the last drop of blood," said spokesman Fawzi Barhoum on a Gaza radio station.

The first round of air strikes came just before noon and several more waves followed.

Hamas security compounds are often located in civilian areas. The first air strikes took place as children were leaving school. Plumes of black smoke rose over Gaza City, sirens wailed through the streets and women frantically looked for their children.

One man sat in the middle of a Gaza City street, close to a security compound, alternately slapping his face and covering his head with dust from the bombed-out building.

"My son is gone, my son is gone," saud Sadi Masri, 57. The shopkeeper said he sent his son out to purchase cigarettes minutes before the airstrikes began and now could not find him. "May I burn like the cigarettes, may Israel burn," Masri moaned.

Civilians rushed to the targeted areas, trying to move the wounded in their cars to hospitals.

Television footage showed Gaza City hospitals crowded with people, civilians rushing in wounded people in cars, vans and ambulances. "We are treating people on the floor, in the corridors. We have no more space. We don't know who is here and what the priority is to treat," said one doctor who hung up the phone before identifying himself at Shifa Hosptial, Gaza's main treatment center.

In the West Bank, Hamas' rival, moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a statement that he "condemns this aggression" and calls for restraint, according to an aide, Nabil Abu Rdeneh.

Israel has targeted Gaza in the past, but the number of simultaneous attacks was unprecedented.

Israel left Gaza in 2005 after a 38-year occupation, but the withdrawal did not lead to better relations with Palestinians in the territory as Israeli officials had hoped.

Instead, the evacuation was followed by a sharp rise in militant attacks on Israeli border communities that on several occasions provoked harsh Israeli military reprisals.

The last, in late February and early March of this year, spurred both sides to agree to a truce that was to have lasted six months but began unraveling in early November.

With 200 mortars and rockets raining down on Israel since the truce expired a week ago, and 3,000 since the beginning of the year, pressure had been mounting in Israel for the military to crush militants.

Israeli leaders have been voicing strong threats in recent days, and consider Hamas, which violently seized control of Gaza in June 2007, to be primarily responsible for the situation.

Is this the real reason for today's attacks?

Go ahead and lace up Israel with as many missiles as you like, Rebel. Iran, nuke them and destroy them all. They deserve to be wiped off the face of the earth.

Bunch of wankers think they can take over a land, control everybody they want with a military presence, and think they can get away with it? Forza Palestine and make them pay. Power to the people who don't have the power.

Yes. And you know what? They will get away with it....again.

Until Zionist influence is removed from the American government (looking at Obama's appointments, that isn't going to happen) and their military and financial aid gone, they will never be held accountable for their actions.

one can only blame the Arabs...these Sheikhs hide their guilt by sending food and money when what the Palestinian people really need is arms and troops...the whole world would come to a standstill if these guys unite and put pressure on the US to curb their backing of Israel...but what do they do? ignore it and do nothing

Alen, I'll be back later to discuss the issue, if you want.

I just watch pics and videos since the morning, and it's really a very sad situation there...

The death toll has just increased to exceed 205.

You all know I really dislike A LOT of Arab customs and in general I'm not a very big fan of the reasoning of most Arab forum members, but it's about time something is done about the conduct of the Israelis.

You have people in Saudi Arabia that are willing to spend millions of dollars to send their Aston Martin to Europe and get it checked, they aren't willing to lift a fucking finger to help their own fucking people. Fuck Israel, Fuck the Arabs, may god be with the Palestinians.
