Can someone please update me on Juve's injury situation?

Buffon has apparently suffered a shoulder injury and Birindelli is having muscular problems. Can someone please verify whether or not these two key players will be fit for the Champions League finals on the 28th of May?

ah c'mon everything is fine, thats just media speculation, as long as everthing goes well in the training and remain serie a match, we would have a mostly non-injury faced squad. of course with the expection of salas. which i wish was fit, becaue he could have been a great sub.

I think that the signing of Di Vaio really brought down Salas' morale. In pre-season Marcelo was awesome, but then when we signed DV he seemed to have lost his confidence. Poor fellow. I hope that he enjoys his next club

Buffon eases injury fears Monday 19 May, 2003

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus ‘keeper Gigi Buffon will be fit for the Champions’ League Final despite a shoulder problem.

The Italian international has been struggling with the injury over recent months and was substituted in the 2-1 loss at Reggina on Saturday.

"My right shoulder has been causing me concern for the last two months but I will be fit for Manchester," said the No 1.

"I asked to be replaced at Reggina because there was no sense in taking the risk with the Scudetto already won.

"There isn’t any need for people to be overly concerned. It was just a precaution. I will be ready for the final."

Juventus play Milan at Old Trafford on May 28 and boss Marcello Lippi believes his side have a small advantage.

"We’re confident because Juventus have already won something this year," said the tactician. "That will put us in a much calmer mood than Milan.

"With the Scudetto already won we can take our foot off the gas and catch our breath. It will also allow me to think about how to replace the suspended Pavel Nedved."

Buffon to miss Euro Final? Wednesday 21 May, 2003

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan’s Jon Dahl Tomasson won’t make the trip to Old Trafford, but Juventus are waiting on news from Gianluigi Buffon.

The Rossoneri striker is definitely out of the Champions’ League Final on May 28 after tearing a ligament in his shoulder.

The Dane suffered the injury during last night’s 4-1 Coppa Italia win at Roma and will undergo surgery this week.

Juventus are already without the suspended Pavel Nedved for the European Final in Manchester, but there are conflicting reports on Buffon’s condition.

The goalkeeper has been substituted in his last two Serie A outings with a right shoulder problem.

“It is something that has been bothering me for the last two months,” admitted the Italian international, “but the substitutions were just for precaution.”

He is undergoing specialist treatment with Juventus medical staff and it is reported there is only an 80 per cent chance of seeing him start against Milan next Wednesday.

Buffon was given three days of complete rest before beginning a personalised training programme this afternoon.

He is currently working with the aid of strapping to prevent the shoulder making brusque movements.

Should the ex-Parma man, who saved a Luis Figo penalty in the semi-final against Real Madrid, not make it then Antonio Chimenti would start between the posts.

I know there still a whole week before the Final and many things can change but i'm starting to worry

Even if Buffon isn't 100 per cent, I expect him to play, but the critical thing is, how good will he play? We can't have a goalkeeper in pain in the Champions League final, especially with Pippo and Sheva as his opponents. :scared:
