Da oggi, l’elenco dei bianconeri Campioni del Mondo si allunga. La Juventus ha infatti ufficializzato l’ingaggio per le prossime cinque stagioni di Vincenzo Iaquinta. Nato a Crotone il 21 novembre 1979, arriva a Torino all’apice della sua carriera dopo sette anni nell’Udinese (con cui ha segnato 64 gol in 187 partite e esordito in Champions League) e le precedenti esperienze in Reggiolo (società dilettantistica emiliana in cui è cresciuto), Padova e Castel di Sangro.

“Dopo sette stagioni a Udine è arrivato il momento di fare il salto di qualità – sono state le prime parole di Iaquinta, estratto di un’intervista che uscirà sul prossimo numero di Hurrà Juventus -, credo di avere l’età giusta per realizzare questo sogno. Sono consapevole di toccare il top e che d’ora in avanti sarà tutto più difficile perché aumentano le pressioni. Ma a me le pressioni piacciono e non vedo l’ora di cominciare questa nuova avventura. Una grande sfida, che affronto con entusiasmo e con l’orgoglio di poter contribuire a riportare questa squadra ai massimi livelli, in Italia e in Europa”.

Dopo l’arrivo di Ranieri, gli acquisti invernali e i recenti rinnovi, Iaquinta costituisce una pedina su cui puntare per il futuro, come confermato dall’amministratore delegato Jean Claude Blanc: “Si tratta di un giocatore importante, un altro campione del mondo che contribuirà a scrivere nuove pagine della storia della Juventus. Un professionista al quale diamo il benvenuto in bianconero, che porta esperienza e qualità alla squadra e che ha l’entusiasmo e la passione giusta per regalare ai nostri tifosi le soddisfazioni che meritano. Non c’è dubbio che sia un altro passo avanti nella definizione di una squadra competitiva per affrontare il rientro in Serie A”.

    He's not that bad guys. In fact, I think Iaquinta playing alongside DP and/or Trezeguet could do a decent job. Plus he's got a physical presence and a decent amount of speed, so I see him settle with us rather quickly.

    the only place for him is the bench nothing else... if he's a starter i'm going to kill myself

    Welcome Iaquinta, quite contrary to popular opinion here, I actually rate him quite highly. I've seen alot of him in the last few seasons, and I do think he's got what we need.

    He's got pace and quick feet for his height and better in the air than Trez.

    That's true! It's his self discipline I'm worried about. I hope he's "grown up" in that department.

    I think he could prove to be an asset. I'm not a fan of his, I just don't like his style of play, but he certainly brings some competition between our strikers and that can only be a good thing.
