Juventus clinched its 27th Italian league title on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Perugia. The Serie A title gave the Italian giants a boost and they are the new leaders in the ESPN World Club Top 25.

Juventus will aim to advance to the Champions League final for the first time since 1998 when it hosts Real Madrid on Wednesday. Real Madrid defeated Juve 2-1 in the first leg, but the nine-time European champions fell to third place in La Liga on the weekend after a scoreless draw with Recreativo.

The ESPN World Club Top 25, a computer based ranking of the world's top clubs, was developed by the staff at ESPN International in 1999. Now in its fourth season, the Top 25 formula takes into consideration performances in league, continental and cup competitions.

The Top 25 will be released every Sunday night throughout the football club season during ESPN's SportsCenter broadcast from Buenos Aires.

I never really understood ESPN's ranking system - I suspect Tommy Smyth is behind all this BS.

Have you ever had the misfortune of watching Juve in ESPN while he is the commentator?

Hey, how much would our score have risen after beating the second-placed team in the CL semis? And if we win the CL final, we'll be dozens ahead
