Dunga backs Gilberto bid

Brazil coach Dunga has backed Juventus' bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva.

The midfielder may be an integral part of Arsene Wenger's side but Juve, currently in Serie B, are rumoured to be preparing a summer approach for the South American.

Dunga is a fan of the 30-year-old, dubbed 'The Invisible Wall', who joined the Gunners back in 2002.

"Gilberto Silva?" he told Corriere dello Sport. "For me, he's a player who can do good things in the Italian league, who can play in a big club like Juve.

"He is mature and he doesn't fear responsibility."

Gilberto was not at his best in the friendly defeat to Portugal this week at his home ground, The Emirates Stadium.

"Everyone expected that things would be sorted out by a team-mate," explained Dunga.

Gilberto is immense....we want a protection for our back four that doesnt merely mean hacking down the player, Gilberto is the man, a class act.

what can this 30 yr old offer for his age? we'll be after a replacement for him next jan
WTF is the problem? 30 years old is probably the peak of a player, he has at least 4 years in him, especially a player of his work rate.

It would be a great addition, what would the price be?

he can organize our midfield and he's a very dynamic and tireless like Gattuso. Never gives up plus he can add to the attack. Have you seen him play for Arsenal? the guy is possibly their best player this season next to Fabregas.

And why is that if a player is 30 years old then he's bad? Chelsea spent huge money on Makalele when he was about the same age and look at him. He's very vital to them and he like what? 34?

Whats wrong with being 30 years old? he isn't old ffs. It's not like all our purchases should be between 15 to 19years old.

Again, 30years old in football is never old.

no but we shud focus at the more 25-28/29 range, the odd young 20s is nice too.

i would of thought after the crapello era of buying already proven journeymen we wud learn sumthing by now. id much rather go for sum1 like lucho gonzalez

Gilberto Silva and Frings are exactly the type of players that we do need, they have the experience, hard working and they don't fear responsibilities. Also, they aren't that expensive.

and how much will Lucho cost us? hmmm? (that's if Porto are willing to sell)
and who are the 25-29 proven players hmmm? give me a list of players that are available for a reasonable price and could be sold that are that age.
