17 years ago the world was deprived of one of the greatest players who has ever set foot on a football field. On the 3rd September 1989, at just 46 years old, Gaetano Scirea lost his life in a tragic car accident. In his role as assistant coach of Juventus, Gaetano had been in Poland watching the Bianconeri’s next opponents in the UEFA Cup. A masterly player, extraordinary defender and above all, a true gentleman, Scirea still holds the record for most appearances made for the club, no less than 552, spanning a glittering career of innumerable successes: one Intercontinental Cup, one European Supercup, one European Cup, one UEFA Cup, seven Italian titles and two Italian Cups all with Juventus, as well as a World Cup winners medal with the national side in 1982.
Gaetano was a unique champion and an extraordinary man, generous to his opponents and unaffected with his friends, and it is in memory of this legend that both club and fans extend their warmth and affection to Mariella and Riccardo.

Great player and captain, if we had more players like him in the squad there wont be any fear on the club's future.

RIP Gaetano
