Hoeness: Bayern May Never Win Champions League Again

Bayern Munich may never win the Champions League again because of lack of funds, according to general manager Uli Hoeness on Friday.

The Germans, who look set to win their sixth domestic title in eight years, were the European champions for the fourth time in 2001 but Hoeness believes they can no longer compete financially with Europe's big guns.

"The probability is not very big," he told newspaper Stuttgarter Zeitung when asked what he felt about Bayern's chances of claiming another Champions League crown.

"Juventus earn 118 million euros per season from selling television rights, we get 16 million," sighed Hoeness. "Over five years, that makes a difference of 500 million euros." .

:lol2: Hoeness acts like Juve's winning the CL every year. I guess we wasted 500 million euros over the last five years, because Bayern and Juve always win the domestic championship. <aybe we should reinvest that money into bribing european refs...

Not that i would care but Bayern are in a very fucked up situation; the other munich team is (as far as i know) in danger of going bancrupt but Bayern cannot afford to lose this team for they have both contracts for their new stadium, the allianz-arena. So Bayern are forced to pump money into the rival club, just to help him staying alive. In more, there are important players leaving from them (ballack for example). I think it's gonna be a tough next xear for them since they dominated the bundesliga nearly every year and know, they cannot compete with the top-clubs to get some strong reinforcement. But hey; who fucking cares, we have the millions ;) let's just hope they are being invested wisely

Felt like bumbing this thread from back in 2006 .... precalciopoli

read what bayeren said back then, see where we could have been now, and where they are now.

But most of all, see that with excellent management, we can get back to where we were before. even if we have to drag serie a like a metal ball on a chain along the way

Great bump indeed, clear and interesting contrast to then and now. I'm afraid it wont ever be like that again.
bayern is where we are now.

how did they got from this to where they are now ? thats the path we should follow, and they have proven its possible.

after all, whilst we had calciopoli, they could just work for 7 years
