From what was said elsewhere, it was a denial of service (DOS) attack. Some hacker(s) with nothing better to do (Milanista?) have a whole pile of computers bombard Marty's servers with requests. I think Swag put it nicely when he compaired it to having computers speed-dialling your phone so often that no one can get through.
