As we have threads for the biggest leagues (GER,EN,NL,IT,SP,FR), I thought we might have one thread in which other leagues are discussed.

So who's following the Portuguese, Scottish, Belgian, Argentine, Brasilian, Younameit, league? Please keep us updated here.

Mods: I think this thread could be made essential.

cheers!

Ok I'll start about the belgian league (Jupiler League).

Anderlecht is leading after tonight's game, but Standard still has to play tomorrow, and could take back the first spot.

Standard are doing great until now. They have a very solid team, relying on their extraodinary captain Sergio Conceicao (you still now him? played for Lazio, Parma, Inter and Porto), and their excellent striker Mohammed (Mémé) Tchité (yes, the one that came with Juve on the summer trip!!).

Anderlecht seemed less solid, but are getting to a good level, and could keep the first spot if Standard loses tomorrow.

Club Brugge had a very difficult start, but is now getting back, recently securing a third place in their CL group.

The big surprise are the minnows of Zulte-Waregem, just promoted from second division, and now occupying an impressive 6th spot. They're getting a lot of praise because they use almost only Belgian players.

place / club / matches played / points
    1 Anderlecht 13 29
    2 Standard 12 28
    3 Club Brugge 12 22
    4 Westerlo 12 21
    5 Lokeren 12 21
    6 Zulte Waregem 12 20
    7 Racing Genk 13 20
    8 Gent 13 19
    9 Cercle Brugge 13 17
    10 FC Brussels 13 17
    11 KSV Roeselare 13 15
    12 Charleroi 13 15
    13 Sint Truiden 13 13
    14 Moeskroen 13 13
    15 Beveren 13 13
    16 La Louvière 13 13
    17 Ger. Beerschot 13 9
    18 Lierse 12 8

    STAR PLAYERS:

Sergio Conceicao, Vedran Runje, Oguchi Onyewu (Standard); Vincent Kompany, Christian Wilhelmsson, Anthony VDBorre, Serhat Akin (Anderlecht); Javier Portillo (Club Brugge)....

    PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Joao Carlos (Lokeren), Ibrahim Salou (Zulte-Waregem), François Sterchele (Charleroi), Steven Defour (Genk), Tosin Dosunmu (GBA).

    more to come...

Oh, by the way. Anderlecht scored a beautiful goal by Vanden Borre with a crazy assist by Wilhelmsson. I'll try to find a video.

Anderlecht need to finish third; they don't deserve the Champions League anymore. Time for Standard to show what they can do in Europe I say!

Well that's a different thing altogether isn't it? But Anderlecht have been losing ALL their matches for the past three seasons or something. I mean, at least Club gather some points and take the third place so they can get in the UEFAcup

Sorry if I wasnt specific but I meant that in my first post. :)

About Anderlecht, I dont know what's wrong with them but I hope they change..they do have some young talents but I hope this isn't the end of them.

Actually a lot of good players are expected to leave over the summer; this might be the last season in a few years you've heard from them :undecide:

They'll be back tho. It's the natural cycle of Benelux football. Ajax always follow the same pattern.

it was their 11th defeat in a row in the CL. And right now they are the only team that didn't score in this CL campaign.

Dunno how it's possible, with such a team...

    Overrated? Like Ajax perhaps?

    could be.

but then again. they perform in the belgian league. And they manage to get through the qualifying round. it's just the bloody CL...

But things will change. Jestrovic will probably be out in the winter (already replaced by Frutos). Zetterberg will hang his boots. Tihinen is leaving. Looks like Kompany will follow him, and Vanden Borre. I'd be surprised if Wilhelmsson stayed... Vanderhaeghe is very old. Goor isn't young either,...

Maybe a year without CL could help...

Standard's performances in Europe aren't brilliant either... 7-1 vs Bilbao last year?? they should be banned!!

ah I'll try, because one of my old classmates is his neighbor.

and yea I think he could make it, because even if he's not successful at first, he'll be building his experience, because face it, MLS sucks. He should atleast play for some under 20's teams.
